Family Planning Certified JCPTGP Certified.
Founder member of GP Advisory Committee and Castle Point and Rochford Primary Care Trust. He has been elected
chairman of these and other local healthcare organisations and is dedicated to improving local health. He is
particularly interested in chest diseases and therapeutics and was the prescribing lead for several years.
Dr Johan Lemmens
Reg GMC 1988 Dutch National. Artsexamen 1987 Nijmegen.
Johan studied in the Netherlands; elective training in Nepal and Lesotho. Worked in Thailand and Khmer Children’s Hospital for “Médicins Sans Frontières”, Paris.
Special interests include: child health surveillance and preventative medicine.
Hobbies include: badminton, skiing and sailing. He speaks five languages: Dutch, English, French, German and Zulu.
Dr Lan A Tan

Special interests include: obstetrics, gynaecology, family planning and child health surveillance.
Hobbies include: squash, swimming and gardening. He speaks three languages: English,
Chinese and Malay.
Dr Shan Whitear

GP trainer in practice. Teaching of GP registrars and medical students.
GP appraiser for Castle Point and Rochford.
Special interests include: health promotion and education.
Hobbies include: cooking, painting, music and family time. She also speaks Bengali.
Dr Amar Afzal
Reg GMC 2001 MB ChB (Hons) MRCGP.
Trained at Liverpool Medical School. Worked in Liverpool and East London prior to joining the Hollies.
Special interest in medical education. He is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi.
All doctors are registered for minor surgery and paediatric surveillance.
We also have registrars with us completing their GP training.
OUR PRACTICE TEAM
Practice Nurses
Our senior practice nurses are
Lynn Acreman and Inge Buswell . Services
provided by our practice nurses and healthcare assistants include dressings,
ear syringing, removal of sutures, cervical smear tests, blood pressure checks,
dietary advice and a full range of immunisations and travel vaccinations. Nursing
clinics include asthma, diabetes, family planning and teenage health screening.
We also offer one session each week (Wednesday am) with a nurse practitioner,
Jacquie Moody, who is able to see patients with long term conditions and can
also see a wide variety of adult patients.
Midwife
Our midwife holds weekly clinics, usually on
Wednesday afternoons.If you think you are pregnant, first make an appointment with your doctor.
Community District Nurses
We have a close liaison with the district nurses and
other professionals who provide medical care in the community. You may be referred to these specialist personnel
when appropriate.
Health Visitor
Jean Hunt offers a comprehensive screening
programme for children under five years of age. She is able to offer advice in areas such as feeding, coping with
crying babies, postnatal depression and health education advice.
Practice Manager
David Baxter AMSPAR Diploma 1997 is
responsible for the administration of the practice. He is available to help with any non-medical problems or
suggestions you may have.
Receptionists
Clair Batrick's team of receptionists who
here to help you make appointments to see the doctor, arrange home visits etc. Sometimes it may be necessary for
them to make personal enquiries - please do not be offended by this as all staff are bound by very strict rules of
confidentiality.
